"Beyond Fried Chicken": KFC tests vegan chicken nuggets from Beyond Meat

After the hype surrounding the vegan burgers from Beyond Meat, the Californian company has now won Kentucky Fried Chicken as a customer. The fast food chain wants to test vegetable chicken nuggets and boneless chicken wings.

The meat substitute company Beyond Meat, which is celebrated for its vegan burger, has won Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), a large US fast food chain, as a customer. The companies announced that they would jointly bring a vegetable imitation chicken onto the market under the label "Beyond Fried Chicken".

Boneless chicken wings and nuggets

Specifically, it's about boneless chicken wings and nuggets - without any animal ingredients. First of all, they are to be tested in a KFC branch in Atlanta. If the vegan options go down well with customers, the chain could offer them across America. The manufacturer of meatballs made from pea protein already cooperates with other fast food chains in the USA such as Carl's, Del Taco or Subway. Kentucky Fried Chicken is one of the last fast food chains to jump on the vegan hype.

Beyond Meats' partnership with the fast food giant has already created a good mood on the stock exchange. The shares of Beyond Meat went out of trading on Monday with a price increase of 5.6 percent.

The US company, which was founded in 2009, is growing rapidly and has been popular with investors since its furious IPO in early May. The share is trading well above its issue price, even if the euphoria has subsided significantly in recent weeks. Beyond Meat and rival Impossible Foods are trendy with their meat alternatives.
