Successful start of the GS agri spring events - mastering the challenges together!

In good time for the start of the crop production season, GS agri invites all interested farmers to its popular spring events in a total of six communities in the Oldenburger Münsterland.

Almost 80 interested participants gathered at the second date of the traditional series of lectures in the fully occupied Frieling Hall in Bühren to find out about the latest developments in the field of arable farming.

With the overarching topic "Agriculture 2018 - mastering the challenges together!", The speakers presented solutions and showed that the changed framework conditions not only contain obligations, but also opportunities.

The audience initially followed the expert remarks by Frank Pelk, agricultural advisor at GS agri, with great interest. In his practice-oriented lecture, he dealt with soil and water protection taking into account the requirements of the new fertilizer ordinance and evaluated the results of the past arable season. “How do I protect my soil sustainably” was one of the questions to be answered, for example. Furthermore, Pelk gave valuable tips on the subject of tillage and its influence on soil life and root development.

Ludwig Ferneding, specialist in the field of crop protection at GS agri, reported on innovations and strategies in crop protection. The core of his lecture was formed by new product recommendations for the appropriate and efficient use of pesticides. In a detailed comparison, Ferneding named the strengths and weaknesses of the individual products, giving the guests a comprehensive overview of the current range of pesticides.

The topic of nutrient transfer was also on the agenda. Julia Gehlenborg, head of natural manure procurement at GS agri, presented new concepts for better nutrient utilization. Among other things, she explained how modern treatment plants work, which are able to separate solid matter from water in a multi-stage process.

Finally, Managing Director Cord Schiplage gave a lecture on the subject of "GS agri is getting fit for the future". It started with a brief interim summary of the already successful field database "Acker24", which enables live bookings from PC, tablet and smartphone and is used as a documentation aid by over 200 satisfied farmers.

Schiplage was also available to answer questions from the participants about the current GS agri construction projects in Leeste and Friesoythe. While the search for a suitable building site has finally come to an end in Leeste and construction work can soon begin on Ristedter Strasse, a new GS agri location is also being built in Friesoythe with a petrol station including a washing facility, a warehouse for fertilizers, Plant protection products and bagged goods, a grain collection facility, a home and garden center and a Dekra test center.

Finally, Cord Schiplage explained the reasons and advantages of the planned cooperation in the area of compound feed with AGRAVIS and the regional cooperatives. Specifically, two joint ventures are to be created, a compound feed company and a production company, which will enable, among other things, considerable potential in the area of compound feed production become. At the same time, the cooperation ensures that GS agri can continue to do business directly with the farmers. With this project, GS agri would like to optimally equip itself for the future and continue to position itself as a powerful partner for farmers in the Weser-Ems region.

Following the presentations, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the knowledge gained in a small group with speakers. Of course, the physical well-being was taken care of.
