What is the construction of the meter bridge

Federal Army

Zweinitz, April 29, 2011 - 25 Villach pioneers built a 21 meter long bridge over the Gurk in Zweinitz in the market town of Weitensfeld in the Gurktal.

Wooden bridge

The soldiers from the Villach Hensel barracks were in Zweinitz for ten days. A wooden bridge was built, which now replaces the old, dilapidated bridge. During a ceremony, the bridge was handed over to the community and inspected by an authorized civil engineer.

Practical training

With this support service "the soldiers had the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge - especially for future disaster relief operations - in a practical way," said Captain Markus Wallner, the commandant of the soldiers, when the bridge was handed over to the community.

Disaster relief specialists

The Pioneer Battalion 1 is one of the three Pioneer Battalions in Austria, which, in addition to the range of operations for classic military tasks, also has the highest standard of training in disaster operations.
