How often will your family visit us

Welcome to the website of the Federal Foreign Office

Due to the corona pandemic, the federal government has issued entry restrictions. Therefore, traveling from Colombia to Germany is currently only possible in exceptional cases.

When entering the country without a visa with a previous stopover, there have been problems with entry in individual cases in the recent past. If you are not flying directly from Colombia to Germany, please make sure to contact the respective embassy regarding entry requirements and transit options before you travel.

Please note that the embassy cannot issue individualized certificates of entry for short stays (up to 90 days per 180-day period). The documents are checked on site by the airline and the federal police.

Please also note the general information on visa-free entry.

In cases in which the spouse or registered partner is a German, EU citizen or citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, visiting trips are possible regardless of whether they are permanently resident in Germany or abroad.

Visiting trips by the third-country national partner to his unmarried partner

Danger! Lately, there have been difficulties in the entry of unmarried partners with a previous stopover in the Schengen area in individual cases. To be on the safe side, the embassy recommends traveling directly from Colombia to Germany without a previous stop, if possible.

The background to this is that the entry of unmarried partners is a special regulation of the Federal Republic of Germany that deviates from the general rules of the Schengen partners. In individual cases, therefore, the airlines or border authorities require individual certificates that confirm the possibility of entry. Please understand that the embassy cannot issue such certificates!
