Will Doctor Strange return in Avengers Endgame
Deleted "Avengers: Endgame" scene proves: Thanos could return
A new deleted scene from "Avengers: Endgame" proves: Thanos could actually return!
- Warning: Spoilers for "Avengers: Endgame" will follow! -
Disney + started in the US in November. While we have to wait until the end of March 2020 for the streaming service, US fans can already watch numerous films there. Among other things, "Avengers: Endgame", for which Disney + also released a few more deleted scenes. One of them proves: Thanos (Josh Brolin) could actually return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The deleted scene is a variation of the conversation between the elder (Tilda Swinton) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in New York in 2012. The later teacher of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) also explains in it that the removal of the Infinity Stones a timeline that plunges into chaos. As the colleagues from Screenrant report, the alternative version breaks with the canon of the MCU after this known part. Because the eldest claims that she can look into the future beyond her death and that she knows exactly what happens when the infinity stones are snipped.
“Avengers: Endgame” is now available in the 4K version for only 16 euros and MCU fans can also expect further reduced offers.
The victims of the Infinity Stones are not dead
According to her, the flicked-away victims will not be killed by Thanos. Rather, they are removed from their existence by the will of the Titan. Therefore, the characters dissolved in dust could also be brought back. However, those who actually die - such as Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who fell to her death - cannot be brought back to life through the Infinity Stones. According to the elders, death is final. Because of this, Hulk is not able to bring Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) back later in "Endgame", although he tried to do so with all the power of the Infinity Stones.
Conversely, this also means: Thanos could return. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) finally dissolved him and his army with the Infinity Stones as well. So he wished them away and, according to the elders, there is a rewind button for such fates.

How could Thanos get back to the MCU - and why should he?
Thanos himself got the infinity stones out of the way in “Avengers: Endgame”. Although they were not erased, as the directors later made clear, they were reduced to their individual atoms. If you have the necessary technology, you could put the stones back together and theoretically bring Thanos back. It would of course also be possible to travel through time again and get the Infinity Stones from other timelines.
The “data” of those who have been flicked away may also be stored somewhere, for example in a dimension that we cannot perceive. Then sophisticated aliens might be able to restore them as well. The soul world within the soul stone would be another point of contact. In order to get to it, one would have to collect one's atoms again or travel through time.
So Thanos is not really dead and theoretically it would be possible to bring him back to the MCU. After all, we're talking about superhero films here, with the necessary creativity, almost anything is conceivable. But why should those responsible want to bring the titan back? No question about it: he's the biggest villain the MCU has ever seen. The fight against him took up two films for a reason, but that probably ends this chapter. Simply resurrecting him would undermine the ending of Endgame and the heroic death of Tony Stark, so we can only hope that the creators will turn to new threats.
This is how it continues in the MCU - presumably without Thanos:
