The National Residue Control Plan (NRKP) is a program for monitoring food of animal origin with regard to the presence of residues that are undesirable for health. It encompasses various stages of production, from livestock to farms that extract or process primary products.

The NRKP has existed since 1989. Program planning and implementation in the European Union are based on uniformly defined standards. The NRKP is drawn up annually. It contains specific requirements for each country on the number of animals or animal products to be examined, the substances to be examined, the methodology to be used and the sampling. The sampling is goal-oriented, i.e. H. taking into account knowledge of local or regional conditions or references to inadmissible or illegal animal treatment. The investigations thus serve the targeted monitoring of the legally compliant use of pharmacologically active substances, the control of compliance with the prohibition of use of certain substances and the collection of knowledge about the exposure to environmental contaminants.
