Are dormitories more pleasant or hostels rooms

Amsterdam »Accommodation» Amsterdam youth hostels

In addition to the comfortable hotels and their star equipment, there are also inexpensive overnight accommodations in Amsterdam, such as campsites or youth hostels.

The Amsterdam youth hostels are the cheapest type of accommodation in the city center. Please take into account, however, that you will not necessarily have your privacy or peace there. If you want to spend a pleasant and relaxing weekend with your partner and need a single room with a private bathroom, we recommend booking a room in one of the cheap Amsterdam hotels.

In contrast to hotels, youth hostels offer accommodation for several people in one room or dormitory. The bathroom is usually in the hallway and is shared by several people. It is therefore certainly useful if you bring your own towels and sleeping bags with you. Especially since some youth hostels charge extra for sheets and towels.

Most youth hostels have a breakfast room, lockers, some board games and internet access. Youth hostels are therefore the ideal accommodation option if you are traveling as a student on a budget and would also like to meet other travelers. If you are traveling with a partner, please note that there is a gender segregation in Christian youth hostels.

As Amsterdam is tourist season all year round, we recommend that you make reservations in advance. This is especially true on weekends and holidays.

Of course there are other youth hostels in Amsterdam, but some of them are not entirely legal. While we respect their business practices, we prefer not to include these hostels in our presentation. Please also note the so-called rankings for new youth hostels. It's certainly easy to give yourself a good review, especially if it wasn't that long ago that it opened. It is best to ask friends and acquaintances who have already been to such a youth hostel before making a reservation.
