  • This is a basically great thread. It's just a shame that you only ever read lists without further comments. So I try to write a few words about at least a few of my series.

I now read almost mainly US comics and quite a few of them in the original. I will gradually switch from the last issues to Trade Paperback / Hardcover and have created a kind of "pull list" (including the current reading status and, if necessary, the German publisher, if I read the series in German).

    "Pull List":

    A.D. After Death (Image / # 1)
Afterlife With Archie (Archie Comics / # 5)
    Black hammer (Dark Horse / # 5)
    Black Magick (Image / # 5) Splitter
    Britannnia (Valiant / # 3)
    Gotham Central (DC / # 22) Panini
    Green Valley (Image / # 2)
    Hellboy (Dark Horse / # 1-4,7-11)
    Invincible (Image / # 120)
    Lazarus (Image / # 25) Splitter
    Lucifer [2016] (Vertigo / # 6) Panini
    Moonshine (Image / # 2)
    revival (Image / # 35) Cross Cult
Rise Of The Black Flame (Dark Horse / # 2)
    Star Wars / Darth Vader [2015] (Marvel / # 18/15) Panini
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (IDW Publishing / # 28) Panini
The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (Archie Comics / # 3)
    The vision (Marvel / # 6) Panini

Break / on the test bench:

    Ms. Marvel [2014] (Marvel / # 19) Panini
Council Queens (Image / # 5) Dani Books
The Sixth Gun (Oni Press / # 11) All Verlag
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl [2015] (Marvel / # 8) Panini
    the Walking Dead (Image / # 96)

    Canceled:

    Empress (Marvel / # 3)
    Pathfinder (Dynamite Entertainment / # 6)

    Completed:

    100 bullets (Vertigo / # 100) Panini
    Cryptocracy (Dark Horse / # 6)
Tales From The Darkside (IDW Publishing / # 4)
    The Discipline (Image / # 6)

    --------------------

    Invincible
I don't think I need so many other superhero series (anymore). Invincible is simply unbeatable. ;O)

    Black Magick
The very nice black artwork and the story immediately inspired me. Waiting longingly for the Splitter Book issue ... and for the original to continue.

    Council Queens
Here I switched to the German edition supported by Mr Dani Books. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to go on there.

    Afterlife With Archie
    The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina
I don't know anything else from the Archie universe. For me, these two titles exude a great retro (horror) charm.

    The Sixth Gun
Also here on the German edition. I don't know if I can keep it up. It looks like we only get one anthology a year. That also spoiled the fun of the German edition a little.

    revival
Is currently picking up again after a small interim low. Now Dana and 'Em really get started.

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Just awesome these turtles. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to go on with Panini. I think it's not worth waiting for a German continuation and I'll switch to US next year.

    Lazarus
I just wanted to get a taste of the series online, then read all the current numbers in record time and now get the great editions from Splitter Verlag. One of my current favorites.

    Hellboy
Here, too, initially viewed the style of Mignola critically, but then learned to appreciate it and consequently got the Library Edition, the German SW Winzausgabe does not do justice to the title!

    Star Wars / Darth Vader
For me it captures the Star Wars feeling well. The mutual reprint of the two series Star Wars and Darth Vader is well done. Although I am now happy that the Vader Down Crossover is over. That was lukewarm at best.
  • Vader Down lukewarm? I thought that was great. Some cool Vader moments and with Doctor Aphra and her two killer droids, cool new characters have been added. Was more of a disappointment when it was finished.

    Noodles
    >> I am hoping that I can be known as a great writer and actor some day, rather than a sex symbol. <<

  • Aphra and the killer droids are entertaining, that's right. But they are outside of Vader Down as well.
Ha, with you I just remembered a series that was broken off recently, just add it.
  • Yes, you can see it that way too.

Pathfinder, it doesn't start that badly, but it gets boring quickly, huh?

    Noodles

Back then I took the first one from my comic book dealer with me on absolute recommendation and what can I say ... One of my absolute favorite series at the moment. Dense story, strong character and an outstanding future setting

In addition, the splitter edition is really something for the eye.
  • Currently active:

    Simpsons
For almost 18 years now with a subscription. It doesn't matter if it's good or bad.

    spawn
But is a wobbly candidate. The last issue really annoyed me and what I've heard doesn't really get any better. I've been reading Spawn - intermittently - since the 90s, but I'm wondering if it's not enough.

    New additions:

    Star Wars - Doctor Aphra
I've already written several times now - just great!

Not subscribed, but taken away monthly at the kiosk:

    Star Wars (Panini)
    Michey Mouse Comics

    Noodles
    >> I am hoping that I can be known as a great writer and actor some day, rather than a sex symbol. <<

  • I got infected with comics 25 years ago and keep switching to the manga faction. I look forward to every manga more than to a new monthly issue of a superhero.

Are no longer "my" Spider-Man, X-MEN, Batman, Spawn etc.

Clear blah blah, win new readers, leave the beaten track, gain new momentum, etc.
But it doesn't work for me anymore. Everything that made me wait 4 weeks longingly for the next issue is no longer available in 2016 and actually for years before that. Too much has been broken. There are always moments when something flares up briefly, but that's about it.

I think Batman No. 60 will be my exit point from the Batman comic universe, if (beware, irony) the series is not stopped or restarted anyway.
I've been with Dino since the first issue, with Spider-Man still in Condor times, but if nothing great happened, 2017 reached the point where I intentionally leave the issues at the kiosk.

Grade DC makes it too easy to stop with his reboots. Should have stopped after 52.

Unfortunately, the majority had to be thrown out again. It currently looks like this:

    Action comics
    Detective Comics
    Flash
Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps
    Hellboy and the BRPD: 1954

I found a lot of Rebirth rather poor.
