ERC is one of the leading manufacturers of additives for fossil and biogenic fuels in Europe.
The ERC Group specializes in the development, manufacture, distribution and application technology of additives for combustion improvement, emission reduction and corrosion prevention. This includes both engine and atmospheric combustion.
In addition, the ERC Group also deals with plant construction (e.g. burners, control systems, dosing systems) in the field of industrial energy generation. ERC produces a wide variety of system-specific dosing systems for the additives, but also works for well-known external clients in the field of control technology in conveying, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The ERC Group also has its own sales companies in Poland, the Czech Republic and India.
The ERC has many years of experience in the areas of combustion optimization and emission reduction. ERC products help to increase efficiency, save energy and reduce the environmental impact caused by emissions.
In addition to its general research and experience in the field of injector deposits (external and internal), the ERC is and was involved in three of the most important German research projects on this topic.
ERC has worked on various regional and international research projects. As a member of research consortia, she was active in the European projects "BIOAEROSOLS", "FBCOBIOW" and some national research projects (e.g. via AIF, FNR, PtJ, FVV).
The ERC has carried out two research projects funded by the AiF in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden. In the first Opti-Link project, a product was created with which the NOx- The raw gas content in the flue gas of a waste incineration plant must be calculated online in advance. A platform was developed in the SNCR 4.0 project. Several modules that have also been developed are connected to this. The data from a waste recycling plant was centered and evaluated in such a way that an optimal method of operation for the entire plant can be proposed with regard to denitrification of the flue gases.
ERC is technically and politically broadly networked through the active association activities at UNITI, DGMK, FVV, BDH and in various DIN working groups and thus has broad application-technical and socio-political knowledge.
The ERC is currently involved in projects on sustainable and regenerative energy sources: these are SAVEbio and Kopernikus P2X.
In another PTJ-funded project "FlexiFuels", ERC investigates additive strategies for marine fuels with the aim of predicting and preventing incompatibilities and harmful effects.

The conversion of regeneratively generated electricity into material energy carriers or chemical products opens up the possibility of energetically and economically higher value products via new recycling chains with reduced “CO2 footprint ”. The potential ecological and economic advantages are not limited to the energy sector, but offer opportunities in a large number of markets that are of essential importance for Germany as a business location and export nation.
The technologies addressed in the C³-Mobility cluster project are designed in such a way that they lead to advantages over the state of the art that do not result solely from the use of "excess electricity".
The scientific, technical and economic prospects of success of the research project are rated as very high due to the proven competencies of the consortium, consisting of universities, large research institutions, industrial companies, associations and organizations. In order to use synergies and avoid duplication of activities, current activities and activities in the national environment that are added during the project period should be integrated into the development process as associated projects (AP).
The research results obtained are to be made publicly available to the specialist audience in the form of articles in scientific journals and as conference contributions.
A correspondingly formulated additive can help to improve the marketing and use chances of alternative fuels in the market and thus, conversely, also generate a corresponding production volume for the additive.
At the moment, it is not possible to make any statements about economic utilization, as the volume and demand for alternative fuels are still very low. One of the reasons for this is that the use of “future fuels” in internal combustion engines has proven to be risky.
Furthermore, the gain in knowledge about the specifics of the fuels to be examined (polarity, completely new value ranges for the physico-chemical properties), their potential for harmful effects on the engine and fuel system (corrosion, stability, lubrication, decomposition, polymer material compatibility) is seen as being successful . This justifies the active interest and participation of ERC GmbH as a future-oriented company in the "C³-Mobility" project.
