iOS 15: These iPhones get the update - and these don't

At the end of April, after a very long beta phase, Apple finally released iOS 14.5 with many new features. But we are already thinking of the next big update to iOS 15 or iPadOS 15, which Apple will present at its in-house developer conference WWDC 2021 on June 7, before it will be rolled out in autumn. However, not every iPhone and iPad owner can look forward to the update, as some Apple products will end at this point. We have summarized an overview of the new features of iOS 15 for you in this article.

All iPhone models that already supported the previous version iOS 13 have received the update to iOS 14. However, with the update to iOS 15, certain Apple models are no longer included in the update program. As early as November 2020, there were indications that the iPhone SE (1st generation), iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will not receive iOS 15 . This is now confirmed by a second report from the French website iPhoneSoft that appeared this year. The particularly popular iPhone SE of the 1st generation went on sale at the beginning of 2016, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were already released at the end of 2015. The new report also says which iPads will most likely not get an iPadOS 15: These include iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2 and the iPad 5 .

That said, there is still a long list of devices that will support iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. The oldest iPhone model comes from the end of 2016 and is called iPhone 7 (Plus). The oldest iPad hit the market in early 2018:

Release of iOS 15

Apple is expected to present iOS 15 for the first time at its own developer conference WWDC on June 7th. The final publication will follow with the new iPhones in autumn 2021, probably in September, as an analyst recently confirmed.
