Secondary school types in Germany: A look at the federal states

Education is a matter of the country and thus also the school system. What emerged as a reaction to the ideological abuse by the National Socialist regime developed into an opaque system. The federal states established over the years 16 solutions for education policy, some of which are very different: The curricula have different focuses and subjects, the final exams differ widely and the transition to a secondary school is regulated differently everywhere - not to mention the transition to the eight-year grammar school (G8).

This has been a real one, especially since the Pisa shock in 2000/2001 School types jungle in Germany leave behind: The number of secondary school types has more than tripled - and to top it all off, they all have different names. The confusion is perfect.
