How do you travel with your pet

Pets on board Finnair flights

Small pets such as cats, small dogs, rabbits, turtles and hedgehogs can travel with you in the cabin on our flights, if the total weight of the pet and transport bag or box 8 kg does not exceed. Larger dogs and ferrets can be carried in the hold on the same flight if the total weight of the pet and carrier is below 50 kg lies. Please note that the pet must be sent as freight if it weighs more than 50 kg together with the transport box.

A puppy must be at least eight weeks old, weaned from its mother, and able to eat independently.

Dogs that are trained as assistance dogs for disabled passengers are carried free of charge in the cabin on all flights. If you are traveling with a guide dog, assistance dog or service dog, please let us know at least 48 hours before departure using the special assistance form. You can find more information about traveling with an assistance dog here.

Please note that you can only send pets to some countries or from some countries as freight. Rodents and more exotic pets such as snakes, lizards, birds or insects must also be sent as freight. All animals traveling alone and animals brought by a third person outside the EU will also be sent as freight.

If you are not sure whether you can take your pet with you, our customer service will be happy to help.
