Is it possible to upload barcode data from the iPhone?

How to Scan QR Codes with iPhone & iOS

What are QR Codes and why do you have to scan them?

The basic idea behind QR Codes originated in Japan in response to the need for better technology than barcodes. Barcodes required complex scanning technology, had very little tolerance for errors, and contained little information. The development of QR codes enabled an enormous improvement in warehouse management systems, as they had a higher fault tolerance, encrypted 100 times more data and could be read both horizontally and vertically - which, by the way, is the reason why QR codes are square. With the invention of smartphones, the use of QR codes reached the general public. Nowadays anyone can scan QR codes using mobile devices. As a result, many companies use them as part of their marketing strategy to conveniently connect users to links and other content.

Which smartphones use iOS?

iOS is an operating system that is used exclusively for Apple products. This includes iPhones, iPads, iPods, Mac computers, and all other Apple devices.

How to check that your iPhone or iPad's camera can automatically scan QR codes

If you don't know which iOS version is installed on your smartphone or if you want to try scanning QR codes without the app using the device's camera, follow these steps:

  1. Open your camera app and calmly point the camera at the QR code you want to scan for 2-3 seconds.
  2. A notification will appear if the scan function is activated.
  3. If nothing happens, you may have to activate the scanning of QR codes in the settings first.
  4. Open your camera app and calmly point the camera at the QR code you want to scan for 2-3 seconds.
  5. Unfortunately, if there is no option for QR Codes available in your device's settings, it cannot scan QR Codes by default. But don't worry, it just means you need to download the third-party QR code reader app (see our app recommendations below).
