Why are you afraid of Islam

Department of Islamic Religious Education

The question of the relationship between Islamic theology and modern Islamic religious education is of great importance for the development of contemporary Islamic religious instruction. Many Muslim religious educators misunderstand their role and see themselves merely as mediators of religious content in the service of theology. They pass this content on to the students without reflecting on them. For many of them, Islamic religious education is just an applied science. Such an understanding of the role of the religion teacher hardly enables the students in religious education to perceive their own religiosity and to individually reflect the meaning of religious content: What do religion and religious content mean to me? How do they relate to my everyday life?
