How can I make liquid hash oil

Making cannabis oil: we show how it works!

Cannabis oil is the basis of many cannabis recipes. Since THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana, is fat-soluble, cooking oils offer it ideal opportunitiesto tie them to food. Likewise, cannabis oils are the backbone of many medicinal foods.

The effects of cannabis in food are usually longer, stronger, and slower. For this reason, you should always be with a low dose start and see what effect unfolds.

Cannabis oil is probably the most versatile medium and a good starting point as it can be used for baking desserts, frying vegetables, frying morning eggs, or in salad dressings. In addition, as with “normal” cooking at home, you have the full control over the preparation.

What kind of oil should i use?

We keep getting asked what kind of oil is best for cooking. That depends on what exactly you want to use it for. A neutral oil like canola, grapeseed oil, or vegetable oil is the most versatile as you can get it use for any recipe that calls for oil. For additional flavor elements is Olive oil a great choice.

Note: You can also stir in solid fats such as coconut oil at room temperature.

What type of marijuana is suitable?

As for the cannabis plant material itself, you can cook with any type of marijuana, from all parts of the plant down to just the flowers. You should adjust the amount you use depending on the strength of the plant and the parts of the plant. For example, if you tend to use leaves and stems, but still want to feel an effect, you should take more of them than if you only work with pure flowers.

What do I need to manufacture?

  • 1 cup of ground cannabis flower (or less for milder potency)
  • 1 cup of cooking oil of your choice

Note: Coconut and olive oils are the most common choices; Coconut oil has a milder taste and can therefore be used in more dishes, while olive oil is the staple food for most cuisines.

Making cannabis oil with cooking oil

First of all, you should Grind cannabis. Keep in mind that anything small enough to fit through the sieve will end up in your final product, so don't grind your cannabis into a very fine powder.

Cannabis Oil - Slow Cooker Method:

Combine oil and cannabis in your slow cooker and heat the two together at a low level for a few hours. This allows decarboxylation (activation of THC) without burning (which destroys the active ingredients).

Cook the mixture on low heat for 4 to 8 hours. There are also chefs who cook their oil in the slow cooker for 2 or 3 days. Of course you can do that too. However, in our experience, this does not improve the effect or quality of the oil. In fact, we only noticed a stronger herbal taste and not much more.

Note: A small amount of water can be added to the mixture to avoid burns.

Cannabis oil stovetop method:

Place the oil, cannabis plant material, and water on the stove top with the lid on. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to a minimum and simmer for 2 to 4 hours to let. Make sure that you regularly monitor the level and add water if necessary so that you always have at least 3 cups in the pot.

Simmering marijuana on the stove is very fragrant. If you're worried about nosy neighbors wondering what you're preparing, other strong smelling foods like fried garlic at the same timeto camouflage the smell.

Note: Regardless of the method chosen, the temperature of the oil should not exceed 120 ° C.

Sieving the oil

The method of emptying is identical for hotplate and slow cooker methods. Put one with a cheese cloth lined colander over a large saucepan or bowl and let the liquid pass through.

Before disposing of the plant matter, pour boiling water over the full strainer to wash away any additional oil that may cling to the plant matter.

Let cool and then squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Then you can dispose of the plant material.

Note: It is advisable to add an additional boiling water rinse to the cannabis oil to extract as much as possible.

In most cases, the oil rises to the top of the water but does not solidify. You can then use a spoon to separate the oil from the water. One is even better suited Kitchen appliance called sauce separatorthat looks like a small jug with the spout on the floor. This unique design allows the water to be poured out while every drop of oil floats on the top.

Now is the time to seven more, so remove as much sediment as possible. Place a double layer of cheesecloth over a sieve and pour the oil mixture through.

Note: Be careful when using the oil to prepare food that needs to be heated. Don't use a microwave and the lowest possible heat.

Making cannabis oil with alcohol

Prepare and set up the Work area:

  • Choose a safe, open environment
  • The room should be well ventilated
  • The room should also be equipped with a fire extinguisher - the alcohol is extremely flammable, as is the oil itself
  • If you want to use a stove, the room will need a gas or electric stove.
  • If you want to use a rice cooker, the room needs electricity.

Note: Do not use alcohol that is not intended for human consumption!

What tools do I need?

In the course of this process you will need one Variety of tools. This includes:

  • 1 medium-sized glass or ceramic mixing bowl. Do not use plastic mixing cups!
  • 1 large wooden spoon
  • A clamping device: E.g. muslin bags, soft grain bags, clean stockings, cheesecloth, chai tea filters or coffee filters paired with a sieve.
  • 1 container to catch the liquid, e.g. a 2-square blender jar
  • 1 silicone spatula
  • 1 double boiler (for stove) or rice cooker and candle warmer
  • Plastic oral syringes

Consider that Wear protective clothing. The process of making your own cannabis oil can be dangerous. Be careful and consider protecting your body with the following items:

  • Safety paint or odor respirator
  • Non-latex gloves.
  • Oven gloves or hot pads
  • safety goggles
Save yourself time-consuming work and the chance of contamination of the oil!
We show that good quality doesn't have to be expensive.

Extraction of THC from cannabis with alcohol

Soak the cannabis buds in the solvent. Pour the buds into a medium sized one Glass or ceramic mixing bowl. Pour the high proof alcohol over the marijuana. Keep pouring the solvent until it is 1 inch above the surface of the cannabis.

Stir the mixture. Use the wooden spoon to do this. Mix and puree the solvent and cannabis for about 2 to 3 minutes. The constant agitation helps the solvent absorb the THC from the marijuana.

Strain the cannabis mixture into another container. Get your strainer and the second container. Place the Sieve device in the second container. Carefully pour the mixture through the sieve and allow the dark green liquid to pour into the container.

Note: If you are using a sachet or cloth, squeeze the contents of the cloth to get all of the liquid out.

Repeat the process

Soak, blend, and strain the mixture a second time. The first wash removes about 70% to 80% of the resin from the cannabis. This second wash removes the rest of the THC.

Empty the contents of the sieve into the medium-sized mixing container. Pour the solvent over the cannabis so that it is completely submerged.

Mix with the wooden spoon and make the Mash the cannabis mixture for 2 to 3 minutes.

Place your colander over the second container, which already contains the dark green liquid from the first wash. Pour the contents of the Mixing container slowly into your sieve. Drain all of the dark green liquid into the container.

Note: It is not necessary to do a third wash.

Removing the solvent and storing the cannabis oil

When it's time to blow off the alcohol, you have one of two options. The first is to use a double boiler and rice cooker.

Use of a double boiler

Fill the lower part of your double boiler with water. The dark green liquid in the top pan to water. If you can't put all of the liquid in the pan, add it one by one as the level drops.

Turn up the burner and wait for the liquid in the top pot to boil.

As soon as the liquid bubbles in the top pot (the alcohol evaporates), turn the burner off immediately.

Leave the contents in the top pan Bubble for 15 to 25 minutes. Occasionally scrape the sides and bottom of the pan with your silicone spatula. If the contents stop bubbling but still appear liquid, turn the burner to low. As soon as the content bubbles again, turn off the burner.

When the contents turn into a thick dark green syrup, all of the alcohol has evaporated and all that remains is the cannabis oil. The process is complete.

Remove the top pan from the bottom pan and let the cannabis oil cool. As it cools, it will continue to thicken.

Boil the solvent in a rice cooker

If you don't have access to a stovetop, you can replace the double boiler with a rice cooker.

Fill your rice cooker ¾ with your alcohol-oil mixture as you like. When you have more of the mixture, you can keep adding it to the rice cooker as the level drops.

Switch the rice cooker to "high" or set it to the "white rice" setting. Then let the solvent / oil mixture boil down.

When the solvent / oil mixture becomes a thick, dark green liquid gently swirl the mixture. When the amount of rising bubbles decreases significantly, it's time to remove the mixture from the rice cooker.

Put the contents of the rice cooker in a glass or metal bowl

Place a glass or metal bowl on top of a candle warmer. Turn on the candle warmer and let the remaining CO2 evaporate from the mixture.

When the contents stop bubbling, you can remove the glass or metal bowl from the candle warmer. The lack of bubbles means that the all alcohol evaporates from the cannabis oil and the process is complete.

Now you can fill e.g. syringes or glass containers with the cannabis oil for storage. Keep syringes and / or containers in a cool, dark cupboard. You can now use the oil for many medicinal purposes.
