Who are animists

What is animism?

Animism is the belief that everything has a soul or a spirit anima in Latin, including animals, plants, stones, mountains, rivers and stars. Animists believe any anima is a powerful spirit that can help or hurt and must be revered or feared or recognized in one way or another. Animism is a primitive religion whose followers have adored animals, stars and all other idols for millennia and practice spiritualism, witchcraft, clairvoyance, prophecies and astrology. They use magic, spells, superstition, amulets, talismans or anything that in their eyes helps to protect them from evil spirits and to appease good spirits.

Elements of animism are present in many false religions, such as Hinduism, Mormonism, and all New Age cults. False religions always teach in one way or another that the spirit within the human being is really God and the practices of these religions are intended to help us recognize this and develop a God-Spirit so that we can also be God. This is the same lie that Satan has propagated since the Garden of Eden when he tempted Adam and Eve and said, "You will be like God" (Genesis 3: 5).

The Bible clearly states that there is only one God and that everything else, from the angels in heaven to the grain of sand on the beach, was created by him (Genesis 1: 1). Any religion that teaches that there is more than one God teaches a lie. “There is no god made before me, neither will there be after me.” (Isaiah 43:10) and “I am the LORD, and there is no one else, there is no god but me” (Isaiah 45.5). Worship false gods, who are not really gods at all, is a sin that God particularly hates because it robs him of the honor and glory rightfully due to him. In many places in the Bible, God forbids the worship of false gods.

In addition, the Bible strictly forbids the practices of animism. “If a man or a woman can conjure up spirits of the dead or prophesy, they should die; they should be stoned; their blood guilt be upon them ”(Leviticus 20:27). The practices of animism are open doors for demons to enter into people's lives. The Bible strongly condemns those who practice such things (Deuteronomy 18; Leviticus 20; Isaiah 47).

As with all false religions, animism is just another delusion from Satan, the father of lies. But many in the world are blinded by "the adversary, the devil, [who] goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour" (1 Peter 5: 8).
