Most boys have their first nocturnal ejaculation during puberty. The reason: During puberty there is an increase in gonadotropins. These are sex hormones that, among other things, stimulate the production of testosterone, the king's hormone in men, as well as the sperm in the testicles. A distinction is made between follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Both are formed in the anterior pituitary lobe. This glandular organ is located at the base of the brain called the pituitary gland. The gonadotropins are then released into the bloodstream. So that the anterior pituitary gland forms these, they are stimulated by the hypothalamus via gonadotropin-releasing hormones (GnRH). The GnRH is also known as gonadoliberin.
