The total number of first and follow-up applications relates to the year 2019. Please note that the number of decisions (i.e. acceptances or rejections) does not have to match this, as there may be pending asylum applications from previous years. Also, not all applications have to be finally processed within a calendar year. In addition, asylum proceedings can also be discontinued if the applicant can no longer be found or if the application is withdrawn.

In 2015 there were 619,403 immigrants in Poland. These are all residents who live permanently in the country but were born in another country. The number also includes recognized refugees, but not yet asylum seekers. The information is based on the one hand on the results of censuses and on the other on projections by the United Nations Population Department. (Values of the graph in millions of immigrants)
