Where can I get a Scrum certification?

So you want to get a Scrum certification? Cool! In addition to the question of the type of certification, the next question, of course, is the organization with which you would like to have your knowledge confirmed. And that's where it actually gets a little complicated. Since 2009 there are two organizations that offer certifications for Scrum: Scrum.org and the Scrum Alliance. Until then, the latter was the only point of contact for certificates in the area of Scrum.

Funnily enough, both organizations were founded by none other than Scrum's forefather Ken Schwaber. Today, however, the two organizations are no longer on good terms with one another. If you would like to find out more about the split and the reasons behind it, please take a look at the “About Us” page of Scrum.org. There Ken Schwaber explains why he decided to split up at the time. In this article we will - as already mentioned - devote ourselves to the certifications at Scrum.org.

Why is Scrum certification useful?

Of course, there are a wide variety of reasons for Scrum certification. In the following section we have summarized the three reasons that we have come across most frequently in our many years of experience as an accredited training institute. Of course, there are also many other points that speak in favor of certification. And we are sure that there is certainly a very special reason for your motivation.

Reason 1: Certificate for the CV

The most obvious and probably the simplest reason is that you want to get the certificate on your resume. Why? The certificate shows your current, potential or future employer that you have a certain competence. We can of course confirm that at this point. Many job advertisements nowadays even require a Scrum certificate. And the need for qualified Scrum experts will only increase in the next few years!

Reason 2: You learn from coaches

As a rule, the certification is accompanied by a training, workshop or online course. For many, training or the respective advanced training in advance is an essential part. Why? Because you learn from experienced and highly qualified trainers, who all have the certification themselves, and who also have important and extensive experience in practice and as trainers or consultants.

Reason 3: Certification as a learning path

For many people, certification is also a kind of path that they follow and the goal of which is the successful completion of the respective exam. Scrum.org also offers specific learning and certification paths that interested parties can use for orientation. Everything is represented there, from specific book recommendations to podcasts, videos and many other things. We have also created a small free learning path for you here!
