Are the spark plug wires okay?

With the high voltage from the ignition coil, the spark plug generates the ignition spark that ignites the mixture in the combustion chamber.
The insulator base is made of ceramic.
Spark plugs are available with different heat values.
If the heat value is higher, the candle will not get as hot. Unwanted glow ignitions are avoided. Spark plugs with a lower heat value get hotter, but do not get dirty as quickly.

To ensure optimal combustion, a spark plug with the required heat value should always be used.

Condition of the spark plug

Soot deposits on the spark plug indicate, among other things, one
towards weak sparks. The ignition cable, the spark plug connector, the contacts or the ignition coil may then be defective.
It is therefore necessary to check these components.

First, you look to see if there is any spark on the spark plug. To do this, you put the candle in the spark plug cap and hold or place the thread on the cylinder head or other mass.
Start the engine and look at the spark on the spark plug, the spark comes regularly with a relatively broad bluish appearance, everything is OK.
If there is a small or yellowish spark or no spark at all, the spark plug, the ignition cable or the coil is defective.
Hold on to the ignition cable during the procedure, if you get a wipe you know the spark plug connector or ignition cable is defective because they allow side currents. You will notice this when you check the plug (without the candle) in the same way.
To make sure whether the spark plug is possibly defective, unscrew the spark plug connector and hold the ignition cable at a distance of approx. 3mm from the connector on the spark plug. If the spark comes out of the ignition cable strongly, the spark plug is probably defective, if there is only a weak spark there, the defect is deeper.

Otherwise, check the ignition cable through a careful visual inspection for cracks or holes.

The ignition coil

An ignition coil is nothing more than a voltage converter (transformer). Because you only have 12 V voltage in the on-board network of the motorcycle. In order to generate an ignition spark, however, one needs much higher voltages of around 15000 V. This conversion is achieved with the help of the ignition coil.

You measure the ignition coil itself by removing the plugs / connections on the ignition coil and using a measuring device (ohmmeter) and measuring the resistances of the primary and secondary windings.
The nominal values ​​are 2.3 - 3.5 ohms for the primary windings and for
the secondary windings 12-18 KOhm.
