All- Institute of aviation materials together with the Foundation for advanced studies held in Tatarstan’s aviation center “Casabas” testing of printed gas turbine engine MGTD-20. VIAM develops print of a gas turbine engine in 2015. Over the past five years, the Institute, the project has developed a range of small gas turbine engines that are made with additive technologies. The range consists of power plants, capable of developing a thrust of up to 10, 20, 125 and 150 pounds-force (98, 196, and 1225 of 1470 kN, respectively). The main objective of the project was to find aviation materials suitable for additive manufacturing technology elements of aircraft and rocket engines.
Flight tests conducted engine MGTD-20, capable of developing a thrust of up to 22 kilograms-force. The drone, on which it was installed, it has a wingspan of 3 meters and a maximum takeoff weight of 40 pounds, including 10 pounds of payload. In flight, the machine using the printed engine was flying at an altitude of 170 meters and was able to accelerate to a speed of 154 kilometers per hour. In flight, the operating speed of the gas turbine engine was 58 thousand per minute and a maximum of 101,6 thousands per minute.
According to the developers, thanks to the use of additive technologies in the manufacturing of the main elements of the gas turbine engine has reduced in 20 times. Serial production of printed small gas turbine engines is scheduled to begin in 2021-2022 year. Earlier it was reportedthat the new power plants will be equipped with the production aircraft-the target “Dan-m” and the reconnaissance drone “Apple”.
Earlier, then company “Superox” conducted the first tests of electric propulsion system based on the effect of high-temperature superconductivity. Testing platform that includes battery, cables, current-limiting device and motor. The tests pass. It is assumed that due to the effect of superconductivity vysokotemperaturnoi it is possible to achieve efficiency of the motor and its feeder system of 0.98.
