Chinese heavy rocket-carrier “Changzheng-5 B” (CZ-5B) at 18:00 local time (13:00 Moscow time) was launched from the spaceport in Wenchang on Hainan island in the South China sea. As reported by the CGTN, the launch was successful. This is the first launch of CZ-5 for a payload in low earth orbit.
In the rocket installed a prototype of a manned spacecraft of new generation, whose Assembly was completed in August last year. This apparatus consists of a manned capsule and the service module. The latter is made reusable with replaceable heat shield.
The Chinese ship, designed to transport astronauts to the space station perspective, designed to carry up to six astronauts. According to the draft, the mass of the ship will be from 14 to 20 tons depending on the version.
Heavy rocket CZ-5 is developed in China since the beginning of 2000-ies. It will be used to start components-looking Chinese orbital stations, as well as for flights of automatic stations to the moon and Mars.
The first rocket launch in version to output payload into geostationary orbit took place in November 2016. All launches of the CZ-5 was three, two of which were successful. The latest launch was made in December 2019.
Version rocket CZ-5B, designed for a payload weighing up to 25 tons into low earth orbit, has a launch weight of 837 tons with a length of 53.7 meters and a diameter of 3.35 meters without the side boosters.
Earlier it was reported that during his second flight of the CZ-5B will lead to low-earth orbit a basic module advanced space station. This launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021.
