The Israelis are armed with miniature loitering ammunition

The Israeli armed forces concluded with the Israeli company Rafael the contract for the supply of miniature loitering munitions Spike Firefly. As writes Jane’s in late 2019 — early 2020, such munitions have successfully passed military tests.

Spike Firefly is a small unmanned aerial vehicle helicopter-type controversies with two coaxial rotors. The spacecraft’s weight is only 3 pounds.

Loitering munitions shall be operated with a compact remote control. The operator can give the command to defeat a particular purpose, and then, if necessary, cancel it. In this case, the machine will return to the operator. The munition can be applied on moving and stationary targets.

The range of Spike Firefly, with 40 centimetres in height and 8 inches in diameter, 500 meters in the city and about 1 kilometer in the open. One package Spike Firefly includes remote control and three ammunition.

In service with the Israel loitering ammunition will receive the designation of Maoz.

In mid-April 2020 the specialists of the Research laboratory of the U.S. Army presented the project of a miniature UAV helicopter type, intended to run from a grenade launcher caliber 40 mm.

Developed by the U.S. military apparatus is a cylindrical shell, equipped with a management controller, lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 850 milliamp-hour, a motor and a rotor with two folding blades.
