The Spaniards have developed a flying observation tower

The Spanish company SCR presented a tethered hexacopter Aster-T, which can be used as a repeater or a kind of flying observation tower. As writes Jane’s, an infrared camera able to detect people at ranges of up to 940 meters, to identify from at a distance of 240 meters and identified at a distance of 120 meters.

Ensuring continuous monitoring of the perimeter of a military base — one of the foundations of its security. This organized system of observation towers and the regular rounds of the perimeter patrols. New tethered drone Aster-T, will allow us to monitor faster the time needed for Assembly of towers.

The device has a maximum takeoff weight of 14 pounds. He is able to carry a payload weighing up to 4 kilograms. Aster-T is connected with the ground power supply and control weight 23 kg with cable-rope. The length of the latter allows the machine to climb to a height of 100 meters.

The basic version of the drone is equipped with infrared and electro-optical cameras. The latter allows to detect people at ranges of 20 kilometers, to recognize for 5 kilometers and identified at ranges of 3 kilometers.

In the case of ground equipment, the infrared camera provides detection distance up to 2.5 kilometers, recognition — 600 meters, and the identification of 300 metres. SCR plans to offer a new development of both military and civilian.

At the end of 2017, the American telecommunications company AT&T used in Puerto Rico tethered drone Flying COW to restore cellular communication. The device provides restoration of voice communication, short messaging services and Internet access via the LTE network.
